Volunteering at Prudence Crandall Center

Volunteer Requirements

All volunteers who work directly with victims of domestic violence must receive at least 20 hours of appropriate training and become a Certified Battered Women's Counselor. Training sessions are offered by PCC twice during the year. To learn more about the next certification training session, call 860-225-5187, Extension 12.

Eligibility Requirements: -

  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Must complete application and interview process
  • Must agree to confidentiality policy
  • Must be compassionate, sensitive, and nonjudgmental
  • Volunteers must model behaviors that are supportive and empowering for clients to make positive life choices and achieve self-sufficiency
  • Must be emotionally and psychologically capable of performing volunteer duties.

Certification Training Application

All participants must complete an application. There is a $50 application fee to participate in Certification Training. $25 will be refunded after one year of service.
