Leave a Legacy
Leave
a Legacy Connecticut is a statewide public awareness effort
to promote charitable bequests. The campaign encourages people
to make gifts from their estates to their favorite nonprofit
organizations.
Simple ways to leave a legacy:
- Prepare a will,
and include a gift for the charities that have made a
difference in your life or the life of someone you love.
Only 50% of those who pass away have a will, and fewer
than 3% of those wills contain a charitable gift.
- You can donate
a specific dollar amount or a percentage of your assets,
including stocks, bonds, CDs, real estate, vehicles,
art, jewelry and other personal property.
- Name your favorite
charity as the beneficiary of your IRA or pension plan.
- Name your favorite
charity as the beneficiary of an existing life insurance
policy, or purchase a new policy and name the charity
as the beneficiary.
- Honor deserving
friends and remember loved ones with memorial gifts.
- Discuss with your advisors or your favorite charity the
tax advantages you can enjoy now by leaving a gift.
- Spread the word. Let family, friends and advisors know
that you have taken responsibility for your legacy and
for the well-being of a cause you care about.

a Legacy or the Connecticut
