Associate Director
The Associate Director is the senior staff member responsible for carrying out the goals, policies and plans of the Executive Director and will work with the ED to develop a partnership that will result in high quality, well-coordinated, efficient operations. The Associate Director is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the Center’s programs and will act on behalf of the Executive Director in her absence. The Associate Director will work closely with department heads and Board committees as needed to ensure communication and integration of the many programs and activities of the Center.
Qualifications: Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or Social Work strongly preferred. Bachelor’s Degree, plus significant management experience required. Ability to work with a broad range of staff, board members, volunteers and the community at large in a positive manner. An excellent manager of people and services with a focus on professionalism, quality, and compassion. Excellent writing skills, deadline driven, organized, detail-oriented, and dependable. Competent in the use of MS Word, Excel, Access and Publisher. Previous leadership, supervisory and budgeting experience required. Ability and willingness to fully support the mission of the organization is essential.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee and implement the day-to-day operations, plans and programs of the Executive Director
- Supervise all Center programs within the guidelines and directives of the Executive Director
- Supervise staff in accordance with the Personnel Policies and in cooperation with the Executive Director
- Ensure compliance with grant and contract requirements
- Ensure adequate staffing at all program sites
- Delegate aspects of the Center’s work to program managers, staff, and/or volunteers as appropriate
- Work closely with the Executive Director to develop, manage, and implement program budgets
- Assist with researching and applying for funding opportunities
- Serve as the main contact for the Program Committee of the Board
- Work with the Program Committee to evaluate services and make changes/enhancements as necessary
- Prepare reports for the Executive Director and the Program Committee that detail progress toward annual goals
- Facilitate program meetings
- Oversee preparation of quarterly statistical and programmatic reports
- Oversee coordination of quarterly staff training days
- Ensure client confidentiality as outlined in CGS 52-146K and the agency’s confidentiality policy
- Assist in other agency operations as requested by the Executive Director
- Represent the agency at related community meetings/functions
- Perform related duties as required and/or deemed necessary by the Executive Director
- Secure and maintain Certification as a Battered Women’s Counselor
This position is exempt from the provisions of wage/hour laws. The scheduled hours for this position are flexible to meet the demands of the position including evening and weekend hours.

Director of Development
The Director of Development is the senior staff member responsible for generating and implementing annual fundraising plans to provide Prudence Crandall Center (PCC) with a stable funding stream from diversified sources. This includes managing all aspects of development, including but not limited to proposal writing, direct mail, special events and any capital campaigns. Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the Development Director will work closely with staff members and Board committees to create a development program fully integrated with the other activities of PCC.
The Director of Development will immediately take forward our fundraising efforts, and move forward with foundation grant applications while at the same time developing PCC’s individual giving plans. The successful candidate will be able to successfully integrate these various fundraising strands into a coherent and productive fundraising effort.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a related field with some formal development training
- At least three years of development experience with a non-profit
- Previous leadership, supervisory and budgeting experience preferred
- Experience working within a non-profit organization as a team player and bridge builder, able to work with a broad range of staff, volunteers and interns in a positive manner
- Experience working with a Board of Directors in a collegial and cooperative manner, and an understanding of the relationship between Board members and staff members
- Good writing skills and an ability to promote new ideas to various audiences as an agent of change
- Deadline-driven, organized, detail-oriented, disciplined, dependable, with the ability to prioritize time and tasks effectively
- Certified Battered Women’s Counselor or willingness to become certified
- Competent in the use of PC computers, experience with development software and with software, such as MS Word, Excel, Access, and Publisher
- Experience and positive interest in ending violence against women, specifically domestic violence, an advantage. An ability and willingness to fully support the mission of the organization is essential.
Responsibilities:
- Raise at least the funding needed to meet budgeted expenses annually and meet income benchmarks included in the budget for foundations, corporations, special events, and individual giving
- Create a prioritized development plan with implementation steps for the next two years
- Identify, recruit and coordinate the team needed to accomplish the development plan: staff, board, volunteers, interns, pro bono services, other partners
- Work closely with the Executive Director and the appropriate Board committee(s) to identify and enhance the role of the Board in development activities
- Ensure a coordinated and comprehensive approach to development with multiple opportunities to connect with donors of all types that includes marketing and public relations efforts (newsletter or alternative, brochures, annual report, website, press releases, etc.)
- Cultivate new donors and refine and enhance the existing donor base – individuals, corporations, third party fund raising, etc.
- Increase the marketing and size of the endowment fund
- Oversee the gift records system including acknowledgement and recognition
Conduct the following activities as needed to meet development goals:
- Grant research, writing, tracking outcomes, reporting impact
- Special events
- Direct mail/annual appeals
- Naming opportunities/capital campaign as needed to raise funds for Rose Hill renovations and/or future facility improvements
- Marketing and public relations
- Planned giving and bequest program
- Report progress to the Executive Director and Board committee(s) at least monthly
- Assist in agency operations as requested by the Executive Director
- Represent the Center at related community meetings
- Perform related duties as required and/or deemed necessary by the Executive Director
Supervised by the Executive Director, this position is full-time, and exempt from the provisions of wage/hour laws. |
Family Advocate
Family Advocate: A professional who provides advocacy, support, counseling, life skills and employment assistance, and related services to empower victims of domestic violence and their children in programs such as the emergency shelter, transitional living or permanent supportive housing.
Qualifications: Strong preference given to bilingual candidates (Spanish & English) who meet these qualifications: A bachelor’s degree plus two years experience in client advocacy, counseling, supportive housing or similar setting preferred, or a minimum of 4 years of education/experience in counseling and/or advocacy. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team, ability to accept responsibility and follow through with assignments. Prefer experience or demonstrated interest in women's issues and domestic violence. A willingness to fully support the mission of the organization is essential.
Local travel necessary, reliable transportation required.
Responsibilities:
- Provide advocacy, support, counseling, crisis intervention and information/referrals
- Develop individual safety plans and individual goal plans with clients
- Facilitate the intake process, completing all required forms
- Facilitate support groups and/or informational meetings/trainings
- Assist with protective/restraining orders and other court matters
- Arrange for emergency medical services or law enforcement services as needed
- Provide/arrange transportation for clients
- Ensure client confidentiality as outlined in CGS 52-146K and the Center’s confidentiality policy
- Provide coverage of one minor holiday and two major holiday shifts each calendar year (if assigned to the emergency shelter program)
- Ensure compliance with funding requirements and contracts and the Center’s policies and procedures
- Work collaboratively with Center staff and other community service providers to address client needs
- Secure and maintain Certification as a Battered Women’s Counselor
General and Related Responsibilities:
- Assist in agency operations as requested by the supervisor
- Attend CCADV and other trainings/meetings as required
- Participate in staff meetings/trainings
- Assist in fundraising and community awareness activities
- Record and compile statistics as required
- Represent the Center at community meetings as requested by the supervisor
- Perform related duties as required and/or deemed necessary by the supervisor
This position is full-time, 40 hours per week, non-exempt from the provisions of the wage/hour laws.
