Crisis Intervention

Our hotline is available 24 hours a day, and provides callers with immediate access to Certified Battered Women's Counselors who can provide crisis intervention, counseling, shelter services, information and referrals.

Intervention Program

This program is available to women and men who have been, or currently are victims of domestic violence. Services include short-term individual counseling, information, referrals, and advocacy.

Support Group Services

Weekly battered women's support groups are offered at our New Britain and Bristol offices. These groups are designed for women who are currently in abusive relationships or women who were previously in abusive relationships. The purpose of these groups is to empower women by giving them support and information to live their lives free of violence.

Prevention Education and Outreach

Our goal is to reduce, and ultimately eliminate, domestic violence in our communities by providing prevention education programs for children, teens and adults. Prevention programs are available for schools, churches and community groups on a variety of topics related to domestic violence. Training programs for childcare providers, police medical personnel and other professionals are also available.

Child Advocacy Program

Services are provided to children whose lives are affected by domestic violence, including educational and recreational activities, individual counseling, support groups, advocacy and referrals. These services are available to sheltered and non-sheltered children and are provided by the Child Advocate.

Information and Referrals

The Center maintains an extensive resource file with referral information for housing, employment, education, mental health and substance abuse treatment that is available to the clients we serve.

Victim Advocate Program

The Victim Advocates provide victims of domestic violence assistance with the civil and criminal court process, information and referrals.

Shelter Services

The Center provides emergency shelter for women and children who are forced to flee their homes because of domestic violence. Residents may stay in the shelter up to 2 months. During their stay they have access to services including individual counseling, support groups, advocacy, information and referrals to legal services, housing services, and mental health/substance abuse services.

Internship Opportunities

Internship positions are available for students working in the fields of Women's Studies, Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, Social Services, Human Services, or other related fields. All interns are required to complete the 30 hour training program to become Certified Battered Women's Counselors. Contact our office to receive more information.
